Hello and welcome to my website.
As the MP for Hamilton East, it is a pleasure and privilege to represent the people of this remarkable electorate in Parliament.
Hamilton is a rapidly growing city and has an important role in the future of our country. We have a major University and are home to many successful businesses across all sectors. As a major city we face the challenges of a busy metropolitan area.
The National Government has laid strong foundations for Hamilton’s future growth with an investment of $3 billion in Hamilton’s infrastructure, and the city is poised to thrive with the big achievements of the past three years. These include completion of the hospital upgrade as well as a number of roading projects including the Te Rapa and Ngaruawahia sections of the Waikato Expressway.
But there’s more to come.
We’ve had the recent announcements about the new schools being built in Hamilton North which will make a huge difference for the large and growing population in the city’s northern suburbs.
Work on projects such as the Hamilton Ring Route and the Cambridge section of the Waikato Expressway will provide an even bigger boost for the city.
However, there is a real risk to the completion of some critical projects. There is no doubt in my mind that a Labour-Green government would indefinitely delay the completion of the Huntly and Hamilton sections of the Expressway which are both due to be contracted next year.
The Greens have already indicated that these projects need to be reviewed and this puts their completion at risk.
This is not just about roads. It’s about the jobs, growth and opportunities that these investments will create.
Through these projects we are creating a pivotal position for Hamilton in the Golden Triangle with Auckland and Tauranga which will lead to more jobs and opportunities for Hamiltonians.
The National-led Government has delivered the infrastructure to enable Hamilton to grow while maintaining a sensible and prudent management of the economy in the most difficult of times. Provided these planned projects are completed, Hamilton‘s future looks extremely positive.
